Visitor 4,000,000 at Romania Pavilion

The Director of the Romanian Pavilion at EXPO 2010, Mihaela Chitic, welcomed today, September,30, visitor 4,000,000 of Greenopolis. Liu Yu is a young woman from Henan Province – the second-largest province in the People’s Republic of China – aged 30 who is currently working for a multinational in Shanghai.

“We are glad our Pavilion has become so popular with the World Exhibition visitors, Today we had our 4 millionth visitor and hope Greenopolis attracts the highest possible number of visitors on the last month of the exhibition”, said Director of the Romanian Pavilion Mihaela Chitic.

The young woman is at her third visit to the World Exhibition, but the first one at the Romanian Pavilion. She received an award on the Greenopolis stage, in the form of a welcome present and a specially-made t-shirt that reads “Visitor 4,000,000,” which she promised to wear for the rest of her visiting day.

“I was attracted to Romania’s Pavilion because I saw it was so full of life. I had never expected so much attention, I thought I would just see the Pavilion and leave. But things turned out differently. I was very happy, but when I climbed on the stage I was nervous, as this is the first time I ever win something”, Liu Yu said.

The young woman learned a few dancing steps from the performing artists, visited the photography exhibitions and had lunch at the Romanian traditional restaurant “Maria,” an opportunity to learn something more about Romania.

“The Chinese public is very curious and interested in everything the Romanian Pavilion has to offer. With our daily live performances on stage we intend to give the very heterogeneous World Exhibition public a feeling they are taking part in our culture, at least for a few minutes”, Mihaela Chitic explained.

On September 29th the total number of visitors at the World Exhibition exceeded 57,350,000 persons.

The highest number of visitors at EXPO 2010 was recorded Thursday, September 23rd, 2010, when over 631,100 persons walked in the exhibition complex. This in fact exceeded the threshold of 600,000/day the organizers forecast in the beginning of the EXPO. The crowd was also felt at the Romanian Pavilion, where about 35,000 persons watched the live performances provided by folk ensembles “Dorna Dorului” and “Harghita.”

On the coming days the organizers expect a large influx of visitors, because on October 1-7, 2010, Chinese citizens have a national vacation on the occasion of P.R. China’s National Day, which is celebrated on October 1st, 2010.
